It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Martin Sutphen from Bayport, NY. Gary was born July 12,1947 in Queens, NY, grew up in Massapequa but lived most of his life in Bayport. He was a Former Army Corporal Vietnam Veteran, and Retired Sheet Metal Worker who in his younger years enjoyed coaching little league, camping out at Shinnecock, making fishing rods and FISHING, but in his later years he loved taking his grandkids to Toys R Us for Christmas shopping trips with Papa, building Lego structures with Aaron, trying to cheer on the Jets, watching Sci-Fi movies and just sitting by the water. He is survived by his brother Matthew Sutphen, his former wife Kathy Sutphen, and their children; Michael Sutphen and wife Kathy, Jason Sutphen and wife Sophia, daughter Tara Rosman and her husband Dave, and his 8 grandchildren; Richard Bohan, Erin Bohan, Kaitlin Sutphen, Isaac Lee, Timothy Lee, Cole Sutphen, Aaron Lee and Jeremiah Lee, as well as 1 great-granddaughter, Scarlett Bohan. He was preceded in death by his father Martin Sutphen, his mother Roslyn Sutphen and his brother Steven Sutphen. Graveside Funeral Services will be held - Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., at Calverton National Cemetery.
