Evelyn Anne Fritz

Evelyn Anne (Raymond) Fritz died on January 26, 2025.  She was 98.  She was predeceased by her loving husband; Charlie in 2020, and her son; Steven, who died suddenly on his birthday Christmas Day in 1969, at the age of 13. She is survived by her daughter; Alison Brohm (Jerry), and son; Christian Fritz (Dawn). She is also survived by grandchildren; Susannah Allen (Rob), Nicholas, and Avery, as well as two great-grandsons; Jackson and Connor, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Evelyn had five brothers, all of whom died before her, and one “sister” Eleanor, who also predeceased her. She was born and grew up in Brooklyn, NY and then moved to Oakdale, NY in 1961. She loved every second of living in Oakdale. She loved her neighbors, her street, her porch, and her home, but she also enjoyed traveling to Europe and around the US.  Evelyn retired from Dowling College after many years, supporting the President and Human Resources, and was a pro at the lost art of shorthand. She loved entertaining and attending any party. She loved Broadway musicals and kicking up her heels. She loved dining out, eating at many of NYC’s finest restaurants. She had many long-term dear friends, most of whom she sadly outlived. She was one of the most beautiful swimmers you’d ever see, and did most of her ice skating on racing skates. She was interested in current events to the very end, wanting to know about artificial intelligence and US politics. She was the most generous, gracious and loving person you could ever meet.

Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 28, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Hwy., West Sayville. A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville. Interment to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
