Erika M. Richard, 87, passed away on February 12, 2026. Born in Germany on August 6, 1938, to Philomina and Emil Bertsche, Erika was a woman of remarkable capability and heart.

Life and Family
Erika met her husband, Peter C. Richard, while he was stationed in Germany. They were married in 1956 and lived in Blue Point, NY, for the majority of their life before moving to Fort Mill, South Carolina and more recently in Spring Hill, Florida.

A Legacy of Strength
Erika was a truly great mother who led by example. She was known for her exceptional determination; she was the kind of woman who could do absolutely anything she set her mind to. An incredible and fantastic cook, Erika’s kitchen was the heart of her home. She expressed her love through her meals, ensuring that her family was always well-fed and her heritage was always felt.

Her Survivors
Erika’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her husband, Peter C. Richard, and her three children (spouses):

She was the proud and loving grandmother of seven: Jake, Lara, Peter, John, Ryan, Ariella, and Aiden. Her family will forever carry the lessons of her resilience and the warmth of her memory.

Visitation- Thursday February 19, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at our Bayport Funeral Home, 683 Montauk Hwy.

Funeral Mass- Thursday February 19, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church, Blue Point

Interment- Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram
