Donald G. Gray, a resident of Sayville since 1960, passed away on December 2, 2021. Donald spent his childhood in the Idle Hour section of Oakdale, before joing the United States Navy. He worked as a civil engineer and retired from the NYS Department of Transportation. Donald was a very active member of the Sayville Congregational Church, especially the youth program, were he would arrange many of the youth trips. He also sat on the board of the Sayville Union Cemetery Association overseeing many of the everday items. Donald was an avid Nascar and Formula 1 fan, loved to water and snow ski in his younger days, and most of all loved to Golf at West Sayville Golf Course. He was also a collector of carved duck decoys. and a member of the international music box society. With everything Donald had going on, he was always able to spend time in his summer home at Cherry Grove.
Donald is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice, his daughter Kathleen Bauer, and her husband Paul, his granddaughter Kelly, and his brother Skip, and his wife Maxine. He is predeceased by his sister Arletta Orsino and brother Bruce Gray.
Family and friends will visit Sunday December 12, 2021 from 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, West Sayville. Church Service Monday December 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sayville Congregational Church, Sayville. Cremation private.
