Dolores Rose Rizzuto

Dolores Rose Rizzuto was born 15 June 1937 in Queens, New York, one of seven children of Joseph and Anella Verali, and left this life on 30 June 2021 to join her beloved husband Santo Joseph Rizzuto (Sonny) with whom she had three loving children:  Joseph John Rizzuto (Carol), Teresa Anne Rizzuto (Joe) and Merit (nee Linda Marie) Rizzuto and their adopted daughter, Lucy Catalano.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Peter John Graziano, Nicole (Kyle) Canary, and Jaimee Rizzuto; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Alexandra Canary; a sister, Annemarie Facciolo; sisters-in-law Vita Rizzuto and Josie Verali; aunt Gloria Sico and uncle Stanley Lewis; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren as well grand dogs and great grand dogs.  Dolores was a fun loving aunt to twenty-one nieces and nephews, grand aunt to their children and had too many cousins to count. 

Dolores was a long-time resident of Long Island, a Certified Orthotist who shattered many glass ceilings and was a true trail blazer in her field as she built a successful surgical business in the early 1970s specializing in prosthetics and orthotics in Elmont, New York as one of the first women in her profession.  She persevered over many obstacles, all the while ready to teach and help the next individual until her retirement when she and her husband moved to New Port Richey, Florida.  

Dolores had a generous soul and exuberant personality and was always the life of the party.

While she and Sonny are dancing together in Heaven, we will celebrate her life on Tuesday, 06 July 2021 at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk  Highway, West Sayville, New York.  She will be buried the following day next to her husband, an Air Force veteran, at Calverton National Cemetery following a funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Snow in Bayport.

Visitation - Tuesday July 6th, 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at our West Sayville location, 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville, NY.

Funeral Mass - Wednesday July 7th at 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church, Blue Point, NY.

Interment - Calverton National Cemetery.
