December 10, 1929 - June 13, 2021
Dolores Ann Bastone (born Wellington), a thirty year resident of Ocala, Florida died peacefully on June 13, 2021. She was 91 years old. Dolores was preceded in death 18 days earlier by her husband Donald, and is survived by their four daughters; Denise (late husband Thomas) Wisnieski, Doreen (Sebastian) Neglia, Deb (Scott) Norton, Diane (Mat) Marucci; their 7 beloved grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
Dolores was born in the Bronx, NY where she met and married Donald on September 18, 1949. Living in Smithtown (and later Nesconset), Dolores raised her family while also working as an insurance claims specialist in a Lake Grove firm for twenty five years. Appreciated in her field, she had the opportunity to travel the world and loved to share stories of her journeys. Upon retiring, Donald and Dolores moved to Ocala, Florida, where Dolores loved her new home and clubhouse lifestyle, but especially looked forward to visits from family.
Dolores was an incredibly outgoing person, loved entertaining and always welcomed friends and family to her table. She was young at heart and could never resist playing games or enjoying theme parks with her grandkids. Dolores enjoyed playing bridge and loved getting lost in a good Grisham novel or a great old movie. She was adventurous, never shy, and loved to sing (even while being teased for her inability to do so). As a child of the Great Depression, Dolores was always grateful for what she had in life. Wonderfully in love with Donald for over 71 years, they shared a life together devoted to family. They are now lovingly connected in death, as they were in life, and will be deeply missed.
Friends and relatives will gather for a ‘Celebration of Life’ to honor both Dolores and Donald on Thursday July 8, 2021 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass will take place on Friday July 9, 2021, 10:00 am at St. Lawrence RC Church in West Sayville, NY. Interment will immediately follow at Calverton National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Hwy, West Sayville, NY 11796.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dolores’ name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Wounded Warrior Project.
