Dolores Alberto

Dolores Alberto, 89, of East Islip, NY, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.  Dolores was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey where she met her husband, Joseph.  The two moved out to East Islip, NY in 1961.  For more than 35 years, Dolores worked alongside her husband, running Heckscher Nurseries until his death in 2007.  More recently, Mrs. Alberto worked with Bohemia Gardens, a company owned and operated by her daughter, Donna DeFede.  For Mrs. Alberto, it was all about her family; crocheting blankets for her loved ones, hosting crab and lobster parties and baking and cooking for her grandchildren. 

Mrs. Alberto was predeceased by her husband, Joseph.  She is survived by her three daughters, Denise Bonessi and her husband Scott of East Islip, Donna DeFede of Sayville and Joyce McPherson and her husband Paul of Babylon, her six grandchildren, Marissa, Michael, Jonathan, David, Juliana and Joseph, four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Greyson, Kolton and Zion, as well as her sister, Yvonne Szymborski and her husband Raymond of New Jersey.

Friends and relatives will gather on Friday, May 16th, 3-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17th at St. Lawrence RC Church in Sayville and interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
