Dean G. Schaal

Dean G. Schaal, age 72, longtime resident of Medford, NY., died unexpectedly on December 31, 2025. Dean enjoyed boating and, more recently, occasional visits to Foxwood Resort in Connecticut. He is remembered as a kind, happy, easy-going person with a warm and jovial spirit.

Dean proudly served 33 years in the United States Coast Guard, during which he received multiple commendations. Notably, he was a founding member of the Homeland Security. He concluded his distinguished career at Bayport High School. Dean was a longtime member of the Patchogue Elks. He attended Our Lady of the Snow Church.

Dean is survived by his sister Celia Rees of Sayville, NY., his sister-in-law Patsy Schaal of Bridgeville, PA., his nephews Robert Schaal and his wife, Elizabeth, Michael Schaal and his wife, Melissa, his great nephews Joshua, Michael and great-niece Molly. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Eleanor Schaal, and his brother, Thomas Schaal.

Family will receive visitors Thursday, January 8th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home 245 Montauk Hwy. West Sayville. Chapel service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram.
