Deacon Edward J. Karan, Jr., 73, a lifelong resident of Islip, New York, died on June 10, 2026. Ed worked with Entenmann’s for nearly forty years, retiring as Fleet Manager. After retirement, Ed worked as a facilities manager at the Immaculate Conception RC Church in Westhampton Beach. Ed was ordained as a Deacon with the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 2013 and served the parish of Our Lady of the Snow RC Church in Blue Point since then. Throughout his years in ministry, Deacon Ed touched countless lives, but he was especially proud of the many holy baptisms he performed, welcoming new life into the faith, and his deeply impactful missionary work in the Dominican Republic, where he shared his immense heart and hands-on spirit with those in need.
Deacon Ed is survived by his wife Janet, his three children, Katherine of Islip, Edward III and his wife Kerry of North Carolina and Christopher, also of Islip, three grandchildren, Kyle Roscot, Kennedy and Carter Karan, as well as his sister, Donna Karan. He was predeceased by his brother Richard.
Friends and relatives will gather on Monday, June 15th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church in Blue Point and interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Sayville.
