Darlene L. Alese

Darlene Alese, 57, of Mastic Beach, LI, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  Born in Nuremberg, Germany U.S. Army Base. Darlene came to the U.S. at 2 ½ months old and was raised in West Sayville and graduated from Sayville High School.  She was a master carpenter and craftsman, a longtime clammer on the Great South Bay, an avid sports fan and athlete and a member of the West Sayville Fire Department’s Golden Eagles Drum and Bugle Corps.

            Mrs. Alese is survived by her husband, Robert, her four children, James Alese and his wife Prism of Shirley, Petty Officer Cristi Alese of Shirley, Staff Sgt. Jessica Alese of Manorville and Joseph Alese and his wife Meagan of California, her three grandchildren, Ava, James and Blake, her mother, Mary Nancy VanEssendelft, as well as her siblings, Diane Spitzer, Phyllis Hansen and Warren, Jeff and Franklin VanEssendelft.  Darlene was predeceased by her father, Thomas VanEssendelft in 2015.

            Friends and relatives will gather on Sunday, November 17th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville where a religious service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 18th.  Cremation will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.

Visiting Hours:  2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. Sunday, November 17th, at our West Sayville funeral home.

Funeral service:  10 a.m. Monday, November 18th at the funeral home.
