Dale Mendelson Obituary

Dale Marcia Okin Mendelson of Sarasota Florida died on March 28th, 2024.   Burial will be on April 4th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Patchogue Hebrew Cemetery in Holtsville.

Born on January 5, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York she was the daughter of Mollie and Murray Okin.

Dale graduated from Tilden High School in Brooklyn, and New York Institute of Technology.

In 1955 she married the love of her life Myron L. Mendelson of Patchogue, New York

They raised their family of three children in Patchogue where Dale was a homemaker.  After the children were in school, she worked in her husband’s business Mid Island Lumber & Supply Company of Riverhead New York.

She and Myron were very active in Temple Beth-El.  She was President of the Sisterhood from 1970 to 1972.  She was also a life-member of Hadassah.  When she moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1990 she became active in Women’s American Ort, and Temple Sinai’s Sisterhood where she became membership chairperson.

Among her survivors are her daughter Phyllis of Sarasota, her sons Andrew and Laurence both of Long Island.  Three grandchildren whom she adored, Jessica, Jacob and Brooke.  Her brother Dr. Jay Okin of Boca Raton, sister-in-law Barbara, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude or Tunnel to Towers.
