Cathy Whitby Obituary

Cathy Whitby, age 69, passed away peacefully in Columbus Ohio with those she loved by her side, on December 20, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. A 1973 graduate of Bethany College, Cathy worked for CRN International in Hamden Connecticut for many years, as the Director of Human Resources. In 2010, Cathy relocated to Marietta, Ohio, marrying and rejoining the love of her life and soulmate, Kevin Whitby. Cathy became the co-owner and VP of the Harmar Tavern and Spagna's restaurant and was affectionately known as "Miss Cathy" to all those who respected the grace and elegance with which she carried herself.

Cathy had a love for life and a love for people, always exuding compassion and caring for those around her. A strong and brave woman, Cathy never encountered a challenge she didn't have the courage to meet. Cathy loved travelling, vibrant artwork, giraffes, and singing along to music in the car.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Kevin Whitby, her daughter Rachel Lawler and granddaughter, Francesca Castillo, of Vermont. She is also survived by: her brother Ronald Woodward of California, her sister Laura Landrio of New York, her brother-in-law, Tom Whitby and wife Joyce. Cathy’s mother, Ruth Woodward, father, Lawrence Woodward, and brother, David Woodward preceded Cathy in death.

A private ceremony for family will be held on Long Island January 14th 2021, a livestream video will be available from Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home of Sayville, NY for viewing online as well. A celebration of Cathy's life will be held at a later time in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Breast Cancer Foundation, or Hospice of Central Ohio at OSU.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
