Billy Savino Obituary

William John Savino Jr., affectionately known to his family and friends as “Billy," passed away suddenly on May 12, 2026.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother to his family, as well as being a true friend to all those he encountered.  Billy was sensitive, yet so strong.  He was extremely hard-working and made sure he always provided for his family, working long hours at any job site or project.  His genuine smile and easy-going demeanor brought joy to all that had the honor of knowing him.

Billy was a devoted husband to his beloved Kim for over 29 years.  Billy and Kim met in 1994 through mutual friends and formed an instant and unbreakable connection, marrying shortly thereafter on March 15, 1997.  He was always tenderhearted, unconditionally adored his wife, and prioritized her with each passion and adventure…turning their yard into a beautiful garden sanctuary complete with a new galvanized pool tub, or being her biggest fan cheering her on in her many races.  In fact, they just returned from the Hudson Valley after a mini-vacation watching Kim run another half marathon, spending the weekend in nature with each other, and sharing many laughs and memories with friends.

Billy cherished being a father to Hope and Halie. He was a proud and dedicated “Dance Dad," never missing a recital and even serving as security at many events.   He was fiercely protective of his girls, yet welcomed Brian and Colin into the family knowing that they had won over his daughters’ hearts and would take amazing care of them.  Billy, Kim, Hope and Halie formed an unbreakable family unit, symbolizing their loyalty to each other with a tattooed heart of all four of their fingerprints that they proudly wore.

In December, Billy became a grandfather to precious Riley who instantly stole his heart. Their love was mutual as it was hard to tell who smiled bigger when one came into the room.  Riley just learned how to blow raspberries, a trick taught to her by her silly “Grandpa."

Billy was a caring and empathetic son and brother.  He reached out often checking in, and always made time for talking and making lighthearted jokes, to keep everyone smiling. He was always willing to lend a hand or ear to friends, displaying his loyal nature.

Lastly, Billy was a huge animal lover to pups, past and present, including Shelby, Moose, and now his favorite “mutts,” Jax and Missy. Donations can be made in honor of Billy to the Islip Animal Shelter.
