Audrey J. Gardi

Audrey J. Gardi, 91, of Sayville, NY passed away peacefully in her home in the company of family on February 8, 2026. Born on June 26, 1934 in West Haven, CT, Audrey devoted her life to her family and home. When her children were out of school, she spent several years working as a bookkeeper at the iconic Sayville clothing store, the Charlotte Shop. In her later years, her focus was creating a home filled with love to share with her daughter and two granddaughters. Her family was always her greatest pride and spending time with them was when she found joy and fulfillment. She was a loyal friend who was kind, honest, funny and beloved by all.

Audrey is survived by her two children Joanne Gardi and David Gardi (Michele); four grandchildren (Palmer, Taylor, Chase and Grayson). She was preceded in death by her husband, former New York Jets and Hofstra football coach Joe Gardi; her parents, Russell and Mary Loella Habersang; her brother Lt. Col. Russell Habersang; and her sister, Dorothy Habersang.

Family will receive visitors on Friday, February 13th from 4-8 pm at Raynor and D’Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Highway, West Sayville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Ambulance Company, Inc., 420 Lakeland Avenue, Sayville, NY 11782. 

Audrey will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Interment and committal services will be private.
