Interment- Oakwood Cemetery, Bay Shore

Aristea Mousis (YiaYia), age 91, of Bay Shore, NY, passed away Monday afternoon, July 27,2020 at Momentum Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 20,1928, in Kalithea, Agrinion, Greece, a daughter of the late Spiro and Frenia Dipla. Aristea was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George Mousis. 

Aristea is survived by her two daughters Eugenia DeLucca (James DeLucca) and Frenia Arena (Vincent Arena) along with her loving 4 grandchildren, Joseph and Aristea DeLucca, George and Andrew Arena. They will truly miss their mother and YiaYia with the big  gaping hole she leaves behind in their hearts with her passing.

She is also survived by her two sisters Aspasia Nifora (Kostantinos) and Dina Grammatikoyiannis(Alekos). She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.Aristea was a devout Christian who believed and followed the Word of God. She was an extreme fighter in every sense of the word. She faced many adversities in life; losing her mother at a very young age,  war, famine, illness, coming to a new world, learning a new language and way of life and yet she would always look for the hope and light and fight forward in the Name of our Lord . She was a survivor. She survived many strokes and Covid19.Her true light and fight  were her grandchildren. She took care of them when they were young and would make sure that nothing bad ever happened to them. She would tell them stories ,cook,  make them couriambedes and sing songs. They were her true reason for living. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00. Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church in Blue Point. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore.Visitation is 10:30-11:00. Friday, July 31, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks donations be made to the church of St. John’s in Blue Point.
