Virginia Marie Lockhart

June 6, 1922 ~ September 14, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Virginia Taylor Lockhart of Hilton Head Island, SC, entered into her eternal life on September 14, 2017.  She was born on June 6, 1922 in Englishtown, New Jersey.  She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Oscar Taylor, her first husband of 42 years, Walter J. Lockhart, and second husband of 13 years, Raymond Briant, her sister, Ruth McCarthy and her brother, Oscar Taylor.

Mrs. Lockhart is survived by her four children, Janice and her husband Robert Oppenheimer of Hilton Head Island, SC; Walter T. Lockhart and his wife Marie of Leland, NC; Barbara and her husband William Breslin of Wantagh, NY; and Carol and her husband John Cullen of Fort White, Florida.  Virginia also leaves behind her 13 loving grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Harriet Lockhart of Hyannis, MA and Virgina Lockhart of Phoenix, AZ, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a past member of the Franklin Square & Munson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hat Club, Lake Worth BPOE Does Club, and was a successful Avon Lady.  She was an avid animal lover and gardener.  No one ever saw Virginia without her makeup, jewelry and perfect coiffure.  She loved to socialize and play bingo.  Her ability to converse with anyone was renowned.  She had a beautiful and radiant smile which will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hilton Head Humane Association, 10 Humane Way, Hilton Head, SC 29926.

Friends may call at the Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, West Sayville, NY on Sunday, September 24th, 12 noon to 5 p.m.  The 10 a.m. Funeral Litergy of the Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 25th at St. John Nepomucene RC Church, 1140 Locust Avenue, Bohemia, NY.  Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Calverton, NY.
