Steve Imburgia passed away on March 17, 2019. He was 94 years old. Steve was born on January 1, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to Basilio and Mary Imburgia. At the age of 18, he volunteered in the army and fought in WWII on the beach at Normandy, and fought his way through France including the Battle of the Buldge, and ended his service liberating prisoners in concentration camps. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with 6 other Military Medals. On October 8, 1949 Steve married Anna Marie in Brooklyn. He was a caring, loving and compassionate person. He loved his family more than anything. Steve was the toughest person his family knew, but he had the softest and most loving heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, two daughters Marietta (Mike), Melody (Jim) and his son Basil (Jackie). Steve has now joined his late son Steven. He is survived by his ten grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Marc, Jacquelyn, Anthony, Dana, James, Briana, Stephen and Joanna, as well as his fifteen great-grandchildren, Giana, Jonathan, Jade, Jordan, Analise, Daniel, Jack, Nicolas, Anthony, Mia, Marea, Juliana, Cadence, Robert and Trevor, with two great-grandchildren on the way. He will always be remembered by family and friends as loving and caring, with a big heart and the bravest man they knew.
Friends and relatives will gather on Tuesday, March 19th from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in Bayport, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday March 20th at 9:30am at Good Shepherd RC Church in Holbrook, NY. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
