Memorial visitation:  Sunday, Jan. 6th, 2-4:30 pm & 7-9:30 p.m. at our Bayport funeral home.

Funeral Mass:  Monday, Jan. 7th, 9:45 am at Our Lady of the Snow Church, Blue Point.

Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram.

Shirley R. McLaughlin, 94, of Jefferson’s Ferry, S. Setauket, formerly of Blue Point, LI, died on November 16, 2018.  A resident of the Bayport-Blue Point area for most of her life, Shirley worked for many years for Brookhaven Town in both the Building and Recreation Departments.

Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by her three children, Gini and her husband Jerry Avolio of Blue Point, Barry and his wife Wendy of California and Darren and his wife Laura Miller of Massachusetts, as well as her seven grandchildren, Alison, Marcus, Matthew, Sarah, Kelly, Katy and Kevin. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Bernard “Mac” McLaughlin, in 2012.          

Shirley had a playful sense of humor and enjoyed puzzles, word games and puns. She passed on her love of sing-alongs, animals and the beach to her children and their families. They will always cherish the memories of her creative holiday celebrations, wonderful family dinners and fun-filled vacations.       

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Snow Church, Blue Point or St. Gerard Majella Church, Port Jefferson Station and would be appreciated by the family.
