Ruth Schulleri Divis, age 92, now of Sayville, but a longtime resident of Bayport, died on Dec. 14, 2018. At her death, she was an active member of the Bayport Methodist Church; enjoying acting; she had performed with the Circle Players, was active in the Girl Scouts and served as Troop Leader, and was an accomplished cook. Aside from being with her family, especially her 4 great grandchildren, Ruth took great pleasure passing time at the family cabin on Echo Lake in the Adirondacks.
Employed for many years at the Bayport Flower Houses, Ruth relished her friendship with the Auwaerter family. Ruth was Northeast Coordinator for Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) and recently celebrated 45 years of membership and leadership there.
Recently Ruth enjoyed kindnesses from church members, family and friends, and the caring staff at The Bristal Assisted Living and Sayville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Ruth is survived by 3 children, Gary E. Divis, Esq., of New York City, Leslie Ann Divis Wallace, R.N., of Miami, and Conrad B. Divis, Captain USN (Ret); of San Diego; 3 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her husband Edward G. Divis predeceased her as did 2 of her sisters; the youngest, Constance Vuolo, survives her, as do many friends.
There will be a memorial service at the Bayport Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on December 29, 2018. Ruth will be interred alongside her husband at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Sayville, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Bayport Methodist Church or Planned Parenthood. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home.
