Otto "Butch" Brauner

Otto “Butch” Brauner, 55, of Bayport, NY, passed away on February 27, 2019. A lifelong resident of Bayport, Butch graduated from Bayport – Blue Point High School in 1981. He attended Hofstra University for several years and in 1995 graduated from Dowling College. Butch was an honorary member of the Bayport Fire Department for nearly forty years. Playing sports was his favorite pastime, before a diving injury caused paralysis. Upon returning to school, he wrote articles for Suffolk County News reporting on BBPHS athletics. He had articles written in several other publications, as well.

Butch is survived by his parents, Otto and Ellie, his sister, Barbara Niblock and her husband Tom, his nephew Tim and his niece Alexis, as well as his aunt Bettie Saidler.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home. A celebration of Butch’s life will be held on March 30, 2019 at Bayport Fire Department, from 2-6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family is collecting donations for a scholarship that is going to be set up at BBPHS, for a student who has persevered and overcome challenges in their life.
