Margaret M. Ruckel

RUCKEL, Margaret M., 89, longtime resident of Bayport, LI, died on November 4, 2017. Marge, as she was best known to most, was born in Valley Stream, NY, October 11, 1928, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Kate) Hannigan who immigrated from Ireland in the late 1800’s.  Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Walter, and her brother John (Johnny) Hannigan.  Loving mother of Patricia Ruckel and Ellen (Sal) Chieffalo. Proud grandmother of Parker Chieffalo. Retired Elementary School teacher in Islip Public Schools who was dedicated to the education of children. Marge was a longtime volunteer at Hope House Ministries, Port Jefferson and was an avid animal lover, golfer, was kind hearted, generous and loved being in the presence of family and friends. Marge’s family would like to thank her private caregivers, who were Angels from God, who cared for her until the end. Reposing Thursday, 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, West Sayville.  Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Snow RC Church, Blue Point.  Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.   Contributions in Marge’s memory made to the LI Alzheimer’s Foundation,  1025 Old Country Rd, Suite 115, Westbury, NY 11590, are appreciated.
