Joseph A. Fontana, 94, of Oakdale, LI, died on Sunday, April 8, 2018. A resident of Oakdale since 1984, Mr. Fontana worked as a letter carrier in Wyandanch from 1971 until he retired in 1989. A veteran of the US Army during World War II, Joseph fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served as an MP during the Nuremberg trials.
Mr. Fontana is survived by his two children, Roseanne D’Amico and her husband Dennis and Anthony Fontana and his wife Eileen, all of Oakdale, as well as his four grandchildren, Dennis, Dan, Michael and Brian, his great grandson, Sam, and his two brothers, Louis and Anthony, both of Florida. He was predeceased by wife Anna in 2016.
