John Laurence Wells

Funeral Service:  Sunday, January 14th at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A private cremation will follow.

            John Laurence Wells, 87, a lifelong resident of Sayville, died on January 12, 2018.  Mr. Wells graduated from Sayville High School in 1948 before serving in the US Army during the Korean War.  Mr. Wells worked as a draftsman for several surveying companies here on Long Island before retiring from Schneff and Murell.  He was also a little league and high school umpire for more than forty years, was a volunteer and board member at the Sayville Cabinet for the Sick, a board member with the Sayville Historical Society, a longtime member of the St. Ann’s Men’s Club and a Bridge Director at the Blue Point Senior Center.

            Mr. Wells is survived by his beloved companion, Sybil Monsell, his two sons, John and his wife Jane of Sayville and Brent and his wife Kristin of New Jersey, as well as his four grandchildren, John, Amelia, Charlotte and Devon.
