George Harry Dennis, a resident of Sayville, New York since 1969, passed away on November 15, 2019. George was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, obtaining the rank of Corporal while assigned to the Military Police and serving in the Korean War. During his service he was a two-time Bronze Star recipient and was awarded a Purple Heart.
After his military career, George was a pioneer route salesman for Entemann’s Bakery and eventually retired from there. In his retirement, George, and his wife Alba, spent winters in Port St. Lucie Florida where he enjoyed spending time with friends, playing golf and pool, and volunteering with the Port St. Lucie Police Department, but the two were always happy to return to Sayville where they spent time and celebrated holidays with beloved family.
George is survived by his children, Glenn and his wife Marge, Theresa Frey and her husband David, James and his wife Dawn, and George Jr. and his wife Rhonda; his grandchildren, Danielle, Michael, Dennis, Joseph, Tori, Logan and their spouses; his three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Cole, and Wesley; and his brother, Harry Dennis. George was predeceased by his wife, Alba; his son, Harry; and his siblings, Francis, Ahram, Lillian, and Mickey.
All who knew him will remember George as a true gentleman whose family was his utmost priority. In honor of his spectacular ninety-year life, please take time to do something special with your family.
