Edith D. DeTota, 92, of Oakdale, LI, died on Saturday, October 6, 2018. A resident of the West Oak Recreational Club “WORC” for more than 70 years, Mrs. DeTota was a winter occupant there. Edith was also a lifetime member of the West Babylon Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, the Suffolk County Ladies Auxiliary and the WORC Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Community Emergency Response Team “CERT”, worked with the Board of Elections and as a Census Taker, and was a survivor of Hurricane Sandy.
Mrs. DeTota is survived by her four children, Barbara Daros of Sayville, Albert and his wife Carey of Connecticut, Jacalyn of Florida and Robin of Sayville, her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Robert Barber of Georgia. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1995.
Friends and relatives will gather on Wednesday, October 10th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville where there will be a memorial service at 8 p.m. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 11th.
