Adelaide Meyer Sanders, 79, of Sayville, LI, died on October 3, 2019. Raised in Baldwin, Addie moved to Sayville in 1972. She inspired many through her writing and spread joy to those around her. She was always smiling and had the most infectious laugh. She was also a published author and poet and enjoyed working in schools across the country.
Her faith was at her core. She was the first female Eucharistic Minister at St Ann’s Episcopal Church. She served as a spiritual guide, Pre Cana counselor and storyteller at the family service.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband, Phil Potestio, her three children, Kristin Divers and her husband Peter Markey of Centerport, David Sanders and his wife Denise of Spencer, New York and Karrin Scully and her husband Tom of Bradenton, Florida, her stepchildren Donna Lynn, Jennifer, Mike, Tiffany, Tommy, Matthew and Tara, as well as her grandchildren, Buddy, Matthew, Wesley, Kodie, Leyna, Kailyn, Tommy, Megan, Jamie, Katelyn, Marissa, Hayley, Tristan, Declan, Gavin, Isabella and Tyler.
She was predeceased by her parents Pierrepont and Adelaide Meyer, her brother Artie and her sister June as well as her first husband David Sanders.
