Inaugural Widows Luncheon: Empowering Women Through Education and Community

Published: August 18, 2025

Join us for our first-ever Widows Luncheon featuring expert guidance on estate planning and essential life skills in a supportive, welcoming environment.

A New Kind of Community Gathering

Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Homes is excited to announce our inaugural Widows           Luncheon, a special new event designed to support widows in our community with    practical guidance for independent living.

This first gathering will take place on Wednesday, September 17th at 12:00 noon at the beautiful Cafe Joelle in Sayville.

This isn't just another community meeting. It's the beginning of a new tradition focused on empowering widows with the knowledge and connections they need to make informed decisions with confidence.

What Makes This Luncheon Special?

Our first event features David Fallon, Esq., who will discuss estate planning and the importance of preparing and updating essential documents. Estate planning can feel overwhelming, especially for those handling these responsibilities on their own for the first time. David will break down complex topics into clear, actionable steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.

Topics That Matter to Women

-This luncheon addresses real-world concerns that many widows face:

-Understanding wills and estate planning basics

-Important documents every woman should have

-How to update legal documents as life changes

     -Planning for financial independence

-Protecting your wishes and your family's future

A Comfortable, Supportive Environment

We've created this format for widows because we know that women often feel more    comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns in a space designed just for them.

Why Estate Planning Matters for Women

Women face unique challenges when it comes to financial and legal planning:

Women Live Longer

Statistics show that women typically outlive their spouses, which means many will need to manage finances and legal matters independently at some point in their lives.

Life Changes Require Updates

Major life events like marriage, divorce, having children, or losing a spouse all require     updates to important documents. Many people create these documents once and never review them again.

Taking Control of Your Future

Having proper estate planning documents isn't just about what happens after death.         It's about making sure your wishes are known and respected if you become unable to make decisions for yourself.

Peace of Mind for You and Your Family

When your affairs are in order, it reduces stress and confusion for your loved ones          during difficult times. Clear documentation prevents family disputes and ensures           your wishes are followed.

What to Expect at the Luncheon

Cafe Joelle provides the perfect setting for our gathering. It’s elegant yet comfortable,    with delicious food in a relaxed environment where you can focus on learning and        connecting with other women in your community.

Practical Information You Can Use

David Fallon will present information in an easy-to-understand way, focusing on practical steps you can take rather than overwhelming legal jargon. You'll leave with actionable knowledge you can apply to your own situation.

Time for Questions

We've built in plenty of time for questions and discussion. No question is too basic or too personal. This is your opportunity to get expert guidance in a supportive setting.

Networking and Building Connections

Meet other women in your community who are navigating similar life situations. Building these connections can provide ongoing support and friendship beyond the luncheon.

Questions Women Often Ask About Estate Planning

Do I really need estate planning documents if I don't have a lot of money? Yes! Estate planning isn't just about money. It's about ensuring your wishes are understood and      that someone you trust can make decisions for you if necessary.

What happens if I don't have any estate planning documents? Without proper papers,    the court decides who manages your affairs and makes choices for you. This can be   time-consuming, costly, and might not match your wishes.

How often should I update my estate planning documents? Generally, you should review them every 3-5 years or after major life changes like marriage, divorce, birth of children  or grandchildren, or if there are significant changes in your financial situation.

Is it expensive to create these documents? The cost varies, but it's much less expensive than the problems that arise when you don't have proper documents. David will discuss practical options during the luncheon.
