Matthew Jon Wilkens

Memorial Visitation:  Saturday, January 13th, 2-4:30 p.m. at our Bayport funeral home where a service will be held at 3:30 p.m.

Matthew Jon Wilkens, 39, of Citrus Springs, Florida, formerly of Bayport, LI, passed away on December 19, 2017.   Born and raised in Bayport, Matt graduated Bayport-Blue Point High School in 1996.  He attended Suffolk County Community College before moving to Florida ten years ago where he worked as a Corrections Officer with the Lake County Corrections.

Matt is survived by his parents, Fred and Barbara, of Leesburg, Florida, his four siblings, Fred and his wife Rita of Medford, Timothy and his wife Marybeth of Pennsylvania, Megan Wilkens-Kjarbo and her husband Paul of Bayport and Shauna and her fiancé, Jim Bachman, of West Sayville, his grandmother, Pat, as well as his nieces and nephews, Destiny, Isabella, Julia, Daryl and Jace.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Matt’s memory made to the North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, New York 11050, are appreciated.
